Flow of Madness |
I write about pop culture and life in a philosophical way. Main topics include Skins, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Ed Sheeran. I will also include anything else that tickles me. Feel free to say hi. Always glad to hear from all of you. Thank you for existing. |
This is my third installment of my “The Grace Effect” series which examines the relationships that Grace had with the gang and what the impact of losing her has had on all the characters.
If you have missed my first two installments you can read them here:
Part 1: The Grace Effect: Franky Bad Ass and Gracie
Part 2: The Grace Effect: Mini Moo and Gracie Poo
This particular post is all about Nick and Grace!
Friendship:
I think one of the saddest things for me is that we never really got to see Nick and Grace’s friendship. Despite this I have no doubts that Nick deeply cared about Grace. I feel like Grace is the type of person that Nick really appreciates. She is devoted to her friends and is more than willing to lend a helpful hand or emotional support. Which is something that Nick prides himself on as well. Grace is also someone who is free spirited and care free in terms of being in a good mood and wanting to have a fun time. I imagine that Nick would be impressed with Grace and her fun carefree nature. On Mini’s facebook account she mentioned that Grace got the gang into a club by singing Mary Poppins to the Bouncer. Nick commented that the memory of that was epic. I can really see Nick and Grace being giddy and just having fun being mates. I have no doubts about it. We also cannot forget that Nick was her maid of honor for her almost-wedding to Rich. A role in which he was honored to have. I feel like the relationship dynamic between these two is best described as big brother to fun younger sister. I also think that their relationship and the feelings that Nick has for Grace is best described by this Gif.

The Grief:
Nick’s grief for Grace is layered. The first layer is of course the sadness he feels for losing such a wonderful and fun friend The second layer is that someone who is related to him was involved in the accident that took Grace’s life. That would add on some guilty by proxy. He loves his brother and wants to believe the best of him; however, he is also grieving for Grace. Everything with Nick is never straight forward and all of his feelings has a counter feeling it seems. The truth is he feels somewhat guilty for having the desire to help his brother and that along with his feelings for Franky was keeping him from being as forthcoming with the information Matty wanted him to supply. I also loved the scene when Alex asked Nick what was Grace like and for a second his face went distant before telling Alex not to mention her. It may seem as if Nick is not mourning as much as the others due to the fact he has more on his plate and in many ways he is mourning Matty as well. However never doubt the protective love that Nick has for Grace. It’s there.
With that I leave you with another lovely GIF.
