Yes. I mean sometimes they are really helpful in understanding little moments and getting spoilers for certain things. Usually though when it comes to finales or important scenes extras know things out of context and usually are ask to leave while filming important scenes.
So what the extras saw was Rich jumping weirdly in the pool and nothing more. So someone saw it and thought he most likely drowned. Understandable conclusion.
But yeah even with extras I tend to go in thinking that they don’t have the whole story. Extras do not get a script nor do they get much direction other than “make out” “ram your head through this” act natural and party” “walk by” so I find it suspect when extras say they know things that are vital. Doesn’t mean they don’t…just that I treat it lightly.
