I write about pop culture and life in a philosophical way. Main topics include Skins, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Ed Sheeran. I will also include anything else that tickles me. Feel free to say hi. Always glad to hear from all of you. Thank you for existing. |
This is an analysis about the relationship that existed between Tony and Michelle.
Tony and Michelle have known each other for a long time. When we meet them in Series 1 they have been a couple for quite some time. Tony is a character who desires admiration and control. Michelle is a fierce character who desires and admires Tony. At least that is what we saw in the beginning of Series 1. Later on the series we see that Michelle is a fierce character that can and will stand up to Tony when he crosses the line too many times. She was so stubborn that despite what she wanted she made sure that Tony gave into her demands.
However before I get to that part of the story I want to address the Tony and Michelle we see in the beginning. The relationship we first see is a toxic one. One in which Tony takes and takes and takes from Michelle and never really gives her anything back. He plays games and at first that is exciting for Michelle, but it is quickly becoming old. He is hard to chase and hard to keep. She is constantly on edge. On top of it he says things about her appearance that she does not appreciate and he never seems to realize how hurtful his jokes are. Michelle suspects that Tony is involved in some way with Abigail. However she keeps dating Tony despite these suspicions it is not until Tony tries to seduce Maxxie while Michelle is in the same room. This pushes Michelle to her limit and she starts to push back. Ending things with Tony and refusing to forgive him.
This changes the power of their relationship. At first it was Tony who held all the power and now it is Michelle who holds it. This drives Tony mad and he tries to get Michelle back. Tony is genuinely shocked at how stubborn Michelle is acting. Since most of the time she gets made for a day or two, but never lie this. Tony out of caring about Michelle but also the fear of losing the control and influence he has desperately tries to win Michelle back. He tries everything under the sun despite the fact that Michelle told him exactly what he needed to do. What Michelle wants is a declaration of love and commitment. A genuine one. He tries everything until he is absolutely desperate at the end of Series 1. This is when he makes the declaration that Michelle needed. Michelle got everything she wanted for a split second until that bus hit Tony. This changed everything.
In the second series both Tony and Michelle are tense and awkward around one another. Michelle is frustrated that the moment she has been waiting for was taken from her. Tony is frustrated that he cannot think and remember the way he use to before the accident. One of the things that Tony doesn’t remember is his declaration to Michelle. We also learn form Sid that Michelle did not visit Tony while he was in the hospital. Michelle then tries to seduce Tony only to find out that Tony is incapable of producing an erection. Michelle frustrated by everything yells at Tony before storming off. Many people get mad at Michelle for her behavior toward Tony. I am one of those people if I am honest. However when I think about it I can understand it on some level. Michelle spent most of Series 1 waiting for Tony to treat her right. Then when she finally got what she wanted Tony gets hit by the bus. Then he does not remember this statement that she needed to hear. Out of loneliness and missing him she tries to initiate something with him only to find that he can’t. That frustration, loneliness, anger, and sadness boiled to the surface at that moment. She wants things to be how it was and doesn’t want to deal with what is.
Tony then works on getting better and pursues her steadily for the latter half of Series 2. Even when she enters a false sexual relationship with Sid out of a mutual longing for other people. Tony pursues Michelle and the determination to get her back increases in the last couple of episodes.
Michelle and Tony break off their relationship due to University locations. Michelle is going to York and Tony to Cardiff. They both love one another and they are being honest about their feelings. Tony’s accident allows him to express himself more freely than the Tony before it ever could. They both have a mutual affection toward one another. Both agreeing that they were great together especially the sex.
Both Michelle and Tony know how to party and play games. Michelle becomes exhausted by the chase of Tony. The thing that made Tony so appealing to her was now becoming a liability. Tony dated Michelle because she was beautiful and also because she has some fire in her. They were great together despite the toxic relationship they had.
They definitely knew how to fight the boredom.
