Flow of Madness |
I write about pop culture and life in a philosophical way. Main topics include Skins, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Ed Sheeran. I will also include anything else that tickles me. Feel free to say hi. Always glad to hear from all of you. Thank you for existing. |
Toxic Bob is a minor character that only graced our screens for one episode; however, he has made a huge impact on many Skins fans.
I have to admit I have many headcanons about Toxic Bob, but before I go dive into the outlandish ideas that I have let me talk about what we know of Toxic Bob. He works at the record shop that Rich frequents. He obviously traveled around and played in bands from how he talks about how he advised iconic musical artists on how not to be asshats. He loves music and is an important part of Rich’s routine.
The main role that Toxic Bob plays is one of counsel and he is partly the reason for why Rich and Grace start to like one another. He is an accepting, honest, witty, and polite man who handles Rich with care. He tells Rich that he would do better in life if he did not act like such “an asshat” all the time. He also takes immediate notice of Grace and treats her with kindness. Subtly suggesting that Rich should be nicer to this lovely girl.
There are several things that are not explained explicitly in the episode; however, I believe they can be explained by Toxic Bob. Grace’s “Subrosa” outfit and sudden metal knowledge. Some people may believe she got the gear and researched it on her own, but I believe she went back to Toxic Bob to get advice. I also think Toxic Bob was responsible for the mysterious Napalm Death concert tickets she had. I think Toxic Bob knew that Rich was being an idiot and wanted to help Grace tame the beast.
These are things that I made up in my head. Rich is not your typical Metalhead. In many ways he is an outsider. An outsider in the mainstream world and an outsider in the metal world. His world before Grace was so narrow and basically consisted of himself and Alo. I believe it has been this way since they were really young. Rich is a shy, reserved, and abrasive person who the other kids disliked. Which is fine by him, because he found metal and disliked them more than they did him. I feel like Toxic Bob was a bit of a mentor for Rich. Gave him a safe place to hang out. Talked with him about music. Gave Rich patience. Rich must go there all the time and spend time. That they created a bond in which Toxic Bob felt comfortable giving honest advice to Rich.
Regardless if you believe my headcanon or not. One thing is for sure. Toxic Bob is the king of cool. He is also the godfather of Hardlet. Great minor character.
