Minor character Commentary - Karen Mclair
Karen is one of my favorite minor characters in Generation 2 specifically. Honestly I would have loved to have seen her in a main role capacity. Her character is quite fun and I could see some potential in her character. Honestly.
Karen is Freddie’s older sister. We first meet her as she was trying her hand to win a televised talent competition for a record deal. She is a dancer and a singer. She knows what she wants and does everything that is necessary to get it. Including using the memory of her mother to get sympathy votes. She is different than Freddie in this respect. She has drive and feisty spirit to go after what she wants. She makes plans.
Another thing that I have noticed about Karen is that she is a bit selfish. However it is a necessary selfish sometimes. In order to accomplish goals or assert herself. Yet at the same time she loved Freddie. She really loved Freddie. She knew that Freddie would not have left and tries to talk Cook into trying to find him. This to me was telling.
Mostly I wanted to take this moment to point out that she was a minor character that did not fit into the world of the main ‘Skins’ cast. She likes the wrong things and she is a bit more girly than the rest. At the same time though. She is a ‘Skins’ character. She’s eccentric and she is herself. That’s all you need to be a Skins character.
