Flow of Madness |
I write about pop culture and life in a philosophical way. Main topics include Skins, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Ed Sheeran. I will also include anything else that tickles me. Feel free to say hi. Always glad to hear from all of you. Thank you for existing. |
I was debating between two types for Katie either Type 8: The Challenger or Type 3: The Achiever. I ultimately decided that she would most likely be a Type 3 due to certain vulnerabilities that come with being this type. Details follow the cut.
Type 3 - The Achievers
Are known to be driven and image-conscious people. They tend to be overly concerned with their image and how they look to the world. They ultimately want to impress people and want to be the type of people that people measure themselves against. They are also self-assured, attractive, and energetic people who can and will get what they want if the put their minds to it. They also have quite a competitive drive.
Katie in the beginning of her story was quite image conscious. Everything she did was a competition whether it was competing against Emily, Effy, or any other girl she wanted to make sure she had the hottest boyfriend, the cutest clothes, and the most perfect life. As she grew as a person she realized that life is not that simple and sometimes you do not get what you want. Katie feels valued by other people’s praise whether it be continued submission from others or male attention. Again with time and experience she has improved greatly on these measures; however, that is her basic nature.
Both Katie and Type 3’s have this desire to be valuable and they fear being worthless. As seen when Katie gets injured in Series 3 and she tells her Mom that she isn’t as smart as Emily. No matter what the exterior says ultimately underneath it all she is comparing herself to others and measuring public opinion against her self-concept.
Another trait that Type 3’s have is that they are expressive and speak their mind. They tend to be quite diplomatic and are able to communicate things that people need to hear sometimes. I think Katie does that quite a bit whether it be Jenna, Emily, Thomas, or Effy. She does have the ability to speak her mind in a way that wakes people up. I admire that trait about her.
