Rich is definitely a loner and enjoys spending time by himself. Even in Series 6 he shows that despite the amount of maturing he has done he is still quite content with rocking out to his music without dealing with insanity that other people bring. He needs that time. He has spent most of his life with one other person, Alo, and he is quite self-reliant. This is why at his foundation he is strong. Sometimes being an independent person who is not in constant need to please people or be surrounded by others can bring you best fucking mate you could ever have: yourself.
