Skins Tracks #56 - Skins Series 6 Episode 10 “Finale” 

Track Name: These Days by The Black Keys 

Played When: Rich was sitting at the side of the pool and he sees his Grace. 

First of all the Black Keys are pretty epic in themselves. This song however is gorgeous and it fits the mood of Rich so well. It’s a slow ballad song with an old school feel to it. Talking about regret and nostalgic topics. Rich is just sitting there by himself watching the other party goers make out, get drunk, and have a good time. He is sitting there all by himself and thinking about what it would be like if Grace was there. Then across the pool his mind made her appear. It is a great scene to begin-not play over- but begin one of the most beautifully heartbreaking scenes I have seen. 

Skins Tracks #54 - Skins Series 6 Episode 10 “Finale” 

Track Name: Give Out by Sharon Van Etten 

Played When: Liv and Alex are on the stairs. Liv wants Alex to stay. 

This track is gorgeous. It’s an emotional ballad about having your destiny tied to another person. Liv is so isolated at the moment. She only has Alex in her mind anyway. She feels like she doesn’t have a home or anything for emotional support. Great song to represent such sad feelings. 

Skins Tracks #53 - Series 6 Episode 9 “Mini and Franky” 

Track Name: Young Dreams by Young Dreams 

Played When: The end of the episode. 

I think this song is so Mini. The lyrics and the music itself seems so Mini to me. So I picked to highlight this song due to that fact and it’s a solid song. A bit glitzy for my normal taste but it works. :)

Summary: Skip to four minutes if you want to get to Skins stuff. In this… we learn how awkward I am…I keep choking….Rach has experience with truck driver…”she can’t be NOT pregnant”, Scottish love, and dogs. 

My favorite episodes of Generation 3 based on personal preference, importance, etc. This is 10-6!

Ben Howard’s “Keep Your Head Up.” Reminds me so much of the journey that Rich takes in Series 6. 

He has gone through absolute hell and tragedy. He has lost the woman he loves in the worst way. All series we get a sense that Rich is trying to hold onto the beauty of this world and the love that Grace gave him. 

This song is about not losing who you are even when things get hard. I picture the first verse is about Rich’s initial emotions after finding out about Grace. The second verse is about him coming back from being gone and finding comfort in the familiarity of Alo. The last verse is Rich thinking about Grace. While the chorus is Grace in Rich’s head reminding him to “keep his head up” (keep going…everything is beautiful,) “keep your heart strong” (that she loved him), and to “keep your hair long” (don’t lose you.) 

This is Rich Hardbeck Series 6’s anthem.
