I write about pop culture and life in a philosophical way. Main topics include Skins, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Ed Sheeran. I will also include anything else that tickles me. Feel free to say hi. Always glad to hear from all of you. Thank you for existing. |
This post I am declaring what I feel are the main canon ships of ‘Skins.’ One from each Generation. Now I am not picking these ships based on the writers intentions but instead I am using three indicators to choose these pairings.
I have picked three pairings. All three of them are quite different and in my opinion represent a different kind of love. Another thing about these pairings is that not all of them were endgame. So let us begin…the main ships of ‘Skins.’

Anonymous asked: I don't think Grace is a lonely character Meg, if she is, everyone is. She always had friends, and protective parents, and a passion (ballet) that made her happy. Grace was probably the happiest character ever written in Skins. Her problems with her best friends, at the beginning, are totally normal with friends like (the old) Mini, but this doesn't make her lonely, in my opinion, only wiser.
Past tense “lonely.” She was lonely. If you read the Skins novel you get a great sense that Grace is being so many things to so many people that no one is actually there for Grace. In the novel she felt alone. In the beginning of Series 5 she was also feeling lonely. In episode in Series 5 she also felt alone.
I’m not saying that Grace is a tragic character or a negative character. I’m saying that she is the definition of being lonely in a crowded room. Her parents loved her but they didn’t really get to know her. It was more them trying to tell her who she needs to be. Mini went through a dogmatic attention grabbing phase where Grace wasn’t the focus.
I stand by my interpretation. She was lonely at that time. Her episode in Series 5 also shows that underlying loneliness as well. This feeling of she has to do it on her own.
I agree that Grace is not a tragic character. But in the novel she was lonely and so was Rich who is also not a tragic character. However at that time they were both lonely. She even says in the novel that she’s lonely.
I feel like if you have a sunny disposition people don’t understand personality complexities. Grace is by no means Cassie who is a tragic character but she can feel lonely. Everyone can. So just to clarify I was not labeling Rich or Grace as lonely characters. I’m saying in the novel and in the beginning they were both lonely characters.
:) Hope that clears it up.
Anonymous asked: I have a fantasy where Grace is a fairytale princess and she's captured by a dragon. I have to save her and then she faints in my arms and I carry her into the sunset on my white horse. Is this quite normal?!
I don’t know Grace does things to people. She makes metal men cry. She makes everyone happy.
I could totally believe she creates these fantasies in people. After all she’s basically the unicorn of Skins.

I was doing some research because I am writing and writing to revamp things tomorrow and I was looking at Grace’s Series 5 profile. I know that I saw this and I know that it caught my eye, but tonight it got my mind turning.
For Grace’s dream date she said this:
DREAM DATE: Definitely Mr. Darcy; we’ve met; he’s a fabulous tap dancer.
Mr. Darcy is a gruff sometimes rude seeming and arrogant sounding character from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The only thing is that there is more to him than that arrogant and prideful exterior. He is actually a kind man with strong principles, strong sense of self, loyalty, kindness, and of course honesty.
Does that sound familiar? It should. Rich Hardbeck. I often said and I think even on here say that Rich reminds me of a rebellious underdog version of Mr. Darcy. He seems like an asshole but really he’s quite sensitive and a decent guy.
I kinda like this. I’m nerding out a bit.

Top 5 Words to Describe Grace:
Grace Violet Blood (Gen 3)
Grace is so Libra it hurts from the beauty of it all. Truly. It hurts. Libra is the sign of harmony, aesthetic beauty, elegance, charm, and the arts. All things that scream Grace while dancing across the floor. People just love Grace and Libras. People are drawn to her. Partly because she is so charming, but also because Grace is amazing at making other people feel loved. They can see the beauty in people and often times they can make the most messed up situation go away with her diplomacy skills. All of these things are so Grace. Rich being the crabby Cancer he is would have turned off most people. However the Libra in Grace saw his beauty and tried to make him feel comfortable enough to come out of his shell. She knew he couldn’t do it if she tried to explain her world she would have to go into his in order to melt his icy exterior. Libras are often times seen as being wishy-washy the truth is they are so busy weighting the pros/cons that sometimes they don’t have an opinion on something. So they often go with the flow to keep the peace instead of coming to a conclusion that may ruffle feathers. However they do have a back bone they are protectors of fairness. They may choose to ignore somethings to keep the peace but when it comes to someone acting unfair like someone she doesn’t know Rich calling her stupid she will react. Or standing up to her Dad after she made a deal with him only to find out he had no intention to keep his end of the deal. She will let you know. They are also hopeless romantics who believe in love and the beauty of love. Something that is very Grace. Her love for fairytales showcases this love. She’s a people pleasing, intelligent, cultured, enthusiastic, and charming young lady. Who sees beauty everywhere.
How can you be more Libra than that?
Below is a look at the friendship that Franky and Grace had. The type of relationship it is, how they helped or hurt one another, and the progression of it. All order the cut.

Anonymous asked: How did you feel when Grace died?
I was absolutely devastated. I adore Grace. She’s a great person and a great character. Definitely does not get enough love.
I think what killed me about Grace’s death more so than the others and I fucking love Chris Miles. Is that Grace had dreams and aspirations. She wanted things in this life. She talked about having kids. She talked about going to school. She talked about all the stuff she wanted to do in the future.
On top of it…it was an accident. It just happened. No one caused it and it wasn’t health stuff. It was just an act of bad chance. It’s a common way that teenagers die.
Then she wasn’t suppose to be there too. She went into that car to help Matty and to get Matty and Franky back together. Her caring spirit landed her in that car. Then she wasn’t going to go to Morocco either it was a last minute decision. It’s all just so fucking unfair and that is why her death is so hard for me.
It’s a true accident. A tragic death.

We’re all soldiers of love. - The Hardlet Fandom.
"Nice one, Chris."
Everybody always fucking pisses on me. And no one gives a shit. Everyone’s just out for them fucking selves! They don’t give a shit... So I fucking...
